Weekly reflections on Practice

“Thank you so much for giving me confidence”

A patient who had been in bed for two weeks following a neck of femur (NoF) fracture to their right hip stood and mobilised for the first time since their operation. When patients give such positive feedback it feels really affirming. I feel lucky to work in a profession where I can enable patients to regain their mobility through rehabilitation (rehab) efforts. Education on pain management and discussing goals early-on can help to direct rehab and inform discharge planning so that patients can back to their own homes, often becoming more independent in activities of daily living.
